Vivo is planning to announce its new foldable smartphone in less than a week. The Vivo X Fold+ will become official on September 26, the company has confirmed.

This device is a successor to the Vivo X Fold which launched earlier this year. The Vivo X Fold is actually the company’s first foldable smartphone, and it never made it to global markets.

The Vivo X Fold+ will become official on September 26

Vivo is planning to deliver one of its foldables to global markets, but we’re not sure if it’s this one, or the next-gen one. The Vivo X Fold+ will launch in China on September 26, not globally. That is its initial launch.

The device will be quite similar to the Vivo X Fold, actually. The one major difference will be in the SoC department. The Vivo X Fold+ will include the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, which is an improvement over the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 in the first-gen model.

Based on Vivo’s official image that is attached to this announcement (which you can see below), the ‘Plus’ model will look a lot like the first-gen model. In fact, we don’t really see a difference here, at least not at first glance.

Two new colors seem to be coming, though, Red and Blue variants, with vegan leather backplates. That should make the devices both less slippery than glass models, and also slightly lighter.

The phone will deliver a new SoC, battery, and faster charging

Now, aside from the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, this smartphone will include a 4,730mAh battery, with 80W wired, and 50W wireless charging support. Those are the major differences compared to the original variant. All the other specs, or the vast majority of them, will be the same.

We’ll get an 8.03-inch main display, backed by a 6.53-inch cover panel. Both of these displays will be OLED panels, and they will offer a 120Hz refresh rate. So they’ll be identical to the ones in the Vivo X Fold. There will also be a centered display camera hole on each of those displays.

The Vivo X Fold+ is coming in a single RAM variant, the device will include 12GB of RAM. It is said to offer two storage options, 256GB and 512GB. You won’t get expandable storage here.

What about the cameras? Well, a 50-megapixel main camera is rumored, along with a 48-megapixel ultrawide unit, a 12-megapixel telephoto camera, and an 8-megapixel periscope unit.

Below you can see some additional images of the Vivo X Fold+, leaked by a tipster.
