Following the successful rollout of its regional charging infrastructure program earlier this year, MG Motor Australia and New Zealand have today announced that it is extending its Hotel ChargeHub Partner Program to major metropolitan centres across Australia.
Peter Ciao, CEO of MG Motor Australia and New Zealand, said:
“In Australia, the purchase price is the biggest barrier to adoption of electric vehicles, closely followed by concern at the lack of public charging infrastructure.
“The extension of our Hotel ChargeHub Partner Program demonstrates our commitment to supporting Australian communities by providing businesses and consumers alike with the necessary infrastructure to support the transition to electric.”
Over the next three years, hotels and leisure centres across the two countries will be provided with electric vehicle charging stations if their application is successful.
Successful applicants are required to pay a one-off $330 (inc. GST) admin fee, saving up to $1,660 off the recommended retail price (RRP) for a single EV charging unit.
With up to 3,000 chargers across Australia and New Zealand, the infrastructure will encourage electric car owners to drive to hotels and resorts where they can charge on arrival.
Previous beneficiaries of the Hotel ChargeHub Partner Program regional rollout include the Hilton Garden Inn Albany, Best Western Hotels & Resorts, and the Park Ridge Retreat.
The news comes off the back of the launch of MG’s 2022 ZS EV, which is currently Australia’s most affordable electric vehicle, with the entry level “Excite” priced at $44,990 driveaway.
