Once again, Tencent’s Honor of Kings is the most profitable mobile games in the world last month, according to Sensor Tower's latest insight.
The hit title has generated over $222 million in August with 94% of revenue came from China.
The second highest earning mobile game was also in Tencent's pocket. PUBG Mobile has made $156.3 million in gross revenue with about 60.7% of revenue from China. Shanghai-based studio miHoYo's popular game Genshin Impact came to the third place.
Senor Tower said that the global mobile games market generated an estimated $6.6 billion from player spending across the App Store and Google Play in August 2022, marking a decrease of 12.4 percent year-over-year.
The No. 1 market for global revenue in August 2022 was the U.S., which generated $1.9 billion, or approximately 28 percent of total player spending worldwide. Japan ranked No. 2 for revenue at close to 20 percent, followed by China, where Google Play is not available, at 17.4 percent.
