The most recent Windows 11 preview build shipped to the Dev channel comes with improvements for Xbox users, as Microsoft brings account subscription management right to the Settings app.

In other words, starting with this latest build, Windows 11 allows users to manage their Xbox accounts right from the Settings app.

Needless to say, the integration comes with several other benefits, including options to upgrade the subscription and even redeem gift card tokens.

“With this build, we are introducing a new Xbox subscription management experience within Windows 11 Settings app. If you are a member of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass, Xbox Game Pass for Console or Xbox Live Gold, you will now be able to see your subscription details via Settings > Accounts,” Microsoft explains.

“Like the Microsoft 365 subscription management experience, you will be able to view your billing recurrence, payment method and the games and benefits associated with your Xbox subscription. In addition, you will also be able to manage and upgrade your subscription, redeem gift card tokens and be up to date on any actions required to continue your subscriptions without any disruptions.”

Rolling out in stages to insiders

Of course, not everybody has an Xbox subscription, in which case the Settings page will just show the benefits of getting one. Many could consider this feature a more or less attempt of promoting Xbox subscriptions, so don’t be too surprised if the company is accused of bringing more ads to Windows 11.

“If you don’t own any Xbox subscriptions, you can learn more about the games and benefits associated with Xbox subscriptions, by clicking the Learn more link on the card,” Microsoft explains.

The new feature is currently rolling out to insiders in the Dev channel, but Microsoft says it’s using a phased rollout before the broad availability is reached.
