BikeList

A better way to buy and sell bikes and parts online

A marketplace built by cyclists, for cyclists. We address the top issues cyclists experience buying and selling on the major marketplaces: high selling fees, it's hard to find the good stuff, avoiding the scammers, and it's hard to get your items noticed!

For me it seems the bike specific filters are the USP. Smart to maybe not allow filtering by location, as the local stock makes it probably feel empty. Curious if reselling bike parts is a big thing. I'am personally a big bike guy, however, I usually bike new stock for replacement parts. Not sure about upgrades though.

@peetzweg Thanks for checking out the site. Great Questions!

You're right on about the filters - we want to avoid an "empty shelves" shopping experience as we recruit sellers and bring their items into the marketplace. It's more of a treasure hunt experience right now - you never know what you'll see on the home page. Over time the browsing experience will evolve to a more tailored experience.

We are working on releasing a find nearby and local pickup option later this year. We know that some of our customers prefer to transact this way, while others will have the exact bike or part they are looking for shipped to them. There's a place for both models.

Parts! Yes, there is a decent market for used parts that are a few years old as well as vintage. There is a lot of junk out there to be sure, so our challenge would be to differentiate the good stuff and find the buyers that are searching for deals online.

You don't need to be a bike nerd like us to give us your feedback!

BikeList is a 2-sided marketplace with sellers and buyers. Our value proposition to sellers is: Lower selling fees than the big marketplaces, it's free - we only get paid when you sell your item, it is quick and easy to list your stuff, and we'll get your item noticed. Behind the scenes we have a seller outreach operation which has attracted many of the sellers you see on the site right now. This is some of the hard work that makes the difference between a cool marketplace with features and one with items on the shelves.

For buyers, there's the website features to search and browse on mobile or desktop. Behind the scenes, we are promoting our sellers items in an authentic way via earned and paid media on social, search, a newsletter, and content. By "authentic" I mean that we share the good stuff, the stuff that we get excited about. If you have experience with SEO, SEM..would love your critique of what you see in the comments!

If you're into branding - would love your opinion on how we're presenting BikeList, both on our site as well as on our first videos. https://www.youtube.com/channel/...
