老 macbook pro 该怎么处置

手里有台 2017 年 13 英寸的 macbook pro ，i5 + 8 + 512 的丐版配置，现在闲置了不知道该怎么利用起来。
公司有 macbook pro + 台式机，家里也有台 windows 笔记本了。
家里其他人都用 win ，我也不想再教一遍 mac 了。
这台本目前没啥大问题主要就是有点卡了，然后开机发热就有点厉害（不知道是电池问题还是该清灰了，20 年免费换了一次原装电池）。本来我是计划放卧室随手拿起来看个视频、记个笔记什么的，被发热问题劝退了。目前在考虑是不是重装一遍系统，把一系列常驻的辅助软件都干掉，看看是不是有改善。
还有什么比较合适的用途么？
