Have a couple on order for the Mrs and myself. Might be too early but wondering if anyone has found clear skins for the M2 yet. I’ve just seen dbrand but no clear skins there.

Looks like SlickWraps has a naked skin. I’ve used their regular skins on other MacBooks and they’re pretty good.

BestSkinsEver was great! Loved using their stuff.

I bought from Etsy on my last Mac but it took forever for them to ship. I’ll take a look at these…thanks!

Looking at this one too. What’s better long run gloss or matte?
Case on a Mac is not good. The lid is designed to be a certain weight for the hinges and over time, the case causes the hinges to get looser quicker, not to mention a case can prevent some of the excess heat from leaving the Mac.

I purchased a Skoko skin through their Amazon.com store for my M1 Air and have been impressed with it. It cost just under £20 delivered to the UK - BestSkinsEver had started getting expensive before their demise.

It just sticks on, no need for soapy water, but that means the application process is less forgiving so you do need to be precise. I had trouble lining it up on the bottom of the MacBook - the first piece I tried as it's the least visible, but found the rest of it straightforward. The coverage is very good.

Nothing showing for the M2 Air yet, but I would imagine they will get them. They have ones for the 14-inch Pro listed at $19.99 -

If that was true why would Apple sell cases for their MacBook? I've never had any issues with a case on a MacBook before.

Here it is on Apple's website.

I know Apple sells them. Just because they sell them doesn't mean it is a good idea. The lids are manufactured to a precise weight and putting a case on the lids adds extra unaccounted for weight. And over time, the extra weight can play a role in the hinges getting looser quicker. If you want to discount what I said about the case with the hinges and retaining more heat with a case, you are welcome to.

Well I watched and the application looks to be poor. You can clearly see air under. Does that go away?

Generally speaking, Apple doesn’t sell accessories prone to damaging their devices. I have used Power Support clear cases on six different Macs (three Airs and three Pros) since 2008 without one single issue, ever. Zero hinge issues and zero heat issues.

So what. That doesn't mean what I said doesn't have merit because you never had trouble.

Yes, there are no visible air bubbles. Judge for yourself -

There's a slight texture to the material. It's a matte finish, which is what I wanted as it doesn't stand out.

True, but my experience, traveling well over one million miles in 23 countries with these cases on my macs, combined with the fact that APPLE SELLS THE THINGS, quite possibly outweighs your “merit”.

I have the clear matte skin from Slick Wraps on my M1 Max and love it. Enough that I preordered it for the M2 Air. i Don't have the Air yet but you can't tell there's a skin on the M1 Max.

No, it's the Skoko one from Amazon.com for the M1 Air. See post number 8 above. They are around $20.

Here's another photo. You should be able to see the joins around the trackpad. I don't put the piece on the trackpad itself as I don't like the feel of it, but there are pieces surrounding it. There are also thin strips on either side of the speaker grilles. If you zoom in, you can see the texture on the material, but it's not visible at normal viewing distances -

No, not at the moment. It seems to be holding up well and shows no signs of discolouration. I've had it for around 17 months and don't regret taking the cheap option.

As I say, the only issue I had was in applying the bottom piece because the panel is inset from the edges of the laptop and the material is sticky so you can't slide it about. You have to be precise when lining it up. The top piece was straightforward because that's edge to edge. I'd put the least visible pieces on first so you get used to the material.

The only other problem is finding where they're sold. Their Amazon store doesn't seem that great - could be supply issues at the moment. Their website is in Korean and Google Translate doesn't do a good job. I thought there might be a load of stockists on eBay and AliExpress, but I can't find them.

I always go for matte because I can use a lighter grip when picking it up with one had.

Their reviews are awful too. I opted for the one off Etsy for now, although switched my order to starlight so not as worried about a skin now. If I were to spend up I'd get one from Ultraskins, they are in the UK and not cheap but the company is supportive and the quality of the film looks high.

Ultraskins will have the new MBA cut this week and up on the website this week or next. Here is an example.
