就在刚刚，美国汽车协会公布最新数据显示，零售汽油平均价格跌破4美元/加仑（平均下来不到3.5元/升），为3月初以来最低水平，延续了近两个月的跌势。
此前燃油价格高涨导致美国CPI一度飙升至9.1%，而现在燃油价格下跌使美国7月CPI有所放缓。
全美汽油均价2008年7月17日达到每加仑4.10美元，是有记录以来最高值。当时美国原油期货价格猛涨至创纪录的每桶147.27美元。
几个月来，严重的通胀一直在挤压着美国家庭的生活，燃油价格的稳步下跌很可能会开始减轻这种压力。
