I've been using this ROM for a couple of days and I gotta say I LOVE IT. The smoothness, the battery drain, the personalization, it's just so cool and optimized. I haven't faced any issues at all, the otherwise, I'm constantly like wow. Good job

Hi, are you using the default kernel? One question, how many hours does the battery usually last?

Yep, I mean I'm using the kernel that comes with this ROM. The battery you have to know I use the phone a lot, a LOT. Saying that, I usually get +6 hours of screen on time. I tried in the past Evolution X, xiaomi.eu and of course stock miui, and the only one that was a problem with the battery was Pixel Experience

Is it intentional that the homescreen (voltage launcher) has to reload widgets every time you go back home? The only thing I can think of is to help with ram management. But for me it makes widgets less useful because I have to wait for them to load.

Have a question about this ROM, cause I haven't understood if there is any fingerprint on display at all or not.
I do understand that on Android 12 ROMs, flash encryption does not work. But can the fingerprint be used to unlock apps, or that function is simply not there at all ?

Another question: Does Magisk work on this ROM ?

EDIT: After reading the OP more carefully, I found out encryption can work on this ROM with some additional steps. So will flash the ROM in the near future and come back with impressions.
It will take some time, as I need to make a proper backup of all app data before comitting to format.

Installed the rom this morning and I have to say in all honesty that this is the best rom I've used since owning the 9T Pro.
You can install your own gapps and keep the system very minimal in terms of Google apps.
Other roms come with Google apps by default and then the entire system is infested with Google apps that you don't even use and only eat up performance unnecessarily.
Here, however, everything is perfect.
I have been eagerly waiting for exactly such a Rom.

Everything runs very smoothly and cleanly. Simply perfect!

I hope that the Rom will be maintained for a long time.

Many thanks to @Pranav Temkar !

Hello

I noticed that the GPS takes a very long time to get a fix.
Many apps that need to access the location do not work. So something is not right here.
Out in the open it takes me several minutes to get a fix. I checked the whole thing with the app GPS Test.

For example, Flightradar24 can't find my location at all.
I have already activated the location accuracy in the location settings. Whether enabled or disabled makes no difference.

Can anyone confirm this?

Edith:

Under the privacy overview, I have now seen that Flightradar and some other apps do not even show up there and ask for the location.
I did not have this problem with the Evox 12.1 Rom.
Flightradar 24 among other apps have of course permission to access the location.

Update:

It was my mistake. During the setup I forbade Google to access my location. This can be changed afterwards, which I also tried, but led to no success. Only a reset has brought something and now everything works as desired. Übersetzt mit DeepL https://www.deepl.com/app/?utm_source=android&utm_medium=app&utm_campaign=share-translation

There is something I would like to add in regard to the GPS problem @cudi90 has mentioned.
If one is going to use apps downloaded from Google Play Store or Aurora Store, these can only
get the location through Google Play Services.
So, if Gapps is absent or it doesn't have the location permission, these apps will simply not work.

If one wants to use the ROM without Gapps, you need to download these apps from a 3rd party
source, like: the website of the developer, ApkPure or Aptoide.
Had this problem before and it took a long time until I realised what the problem was.

This is something not specific to this ROM, one can have this problem on any ROM.

so how do I enable gps without Gapps? because I didn't flashed Gapps because I didn't want it

You need to use the app version which does not contain the Google Play Services components.
As said, website developer, Aptoide, ApkPure, etc. can offer such versions.
The Google Play ones won't work on ROMs without Gapps, they won't be able to access location.

I don't use Gapps myself, that's the main reason I switched to custom ROMs years ago, cause otherwise
stock ones can be modded enough to achive better battery autonomy or other goals.
However, not using Gapps will have some inconveniences, as Google wants you to use it in order to
collect your usage data.

Does apps from aurora still contain Google Play Services components then? Because I'm using aurora store for downloading my apps

Yes, I mentioned that in post #132.
Aurora Store apps are identical with those downloaded from Google Play and DO contain those Gapps components, as Aurora is just a proxy for Google Play, it's not a store in and of itself.

I use Aurora Store myself, but only for apps that don't require GPS (which work fine). For those that do,
which in my case are just 2 (Waze and OSMand), I download them from other sources and don't
bother that much updating them (as updates are not critical on these).
OSMand apk is available for download on their website and for Waze I downloaded an apk from Aptoide
and use that version (did not keep Aptoide itself).

Also be careful not to update these apps in Aurora, as updating will render them non-functional.
I mention this because they will obviously appear in the update menu when you update other apps.

Hello VoltageOS users, i hope you are are having a great weekend, quick status on current scenario. My server has just got over. It was being shared with me & lead dev. So until we get a new server to keep this project continued i am sorry to address the project is currently on hold.

To help us overcome this issue, you can help us with donating a Google Cloud Platform (gcp) free trail.
this wont cost you anything, basically it refunds your Rs.1 after it verifies.

Gcp are very important for us to keep building as we don't have powerful pc to keep up with it.

Those who are interested to donate a gcp free trail can follow this procedure
Gcp free trail guide

if you are successful in getting a gcp free trail you can contact me on telegram
https://t.me/PptOo7

Thanks to everyone, i repeat we don't want any type of crowd funding or donation, we wont ask for your hard earned money, this is free trail will take just Rs.1 for verification and that too will be refunded basically free of cost.

Can someone tell me if this ROM has the following features?
- AOD Schedule;
- Long (or scrolling) screenshot.

I always keep my storage decrypted by flashing DFE after every ROM flash. If I want to use Voltage, can I flash it from official TWRP? I see that it's decrypted by default so flashing DFE is not required if I want to keep everything decrypted.

  • New update is live and good news for encryption users, we finally support decryption of internal storage in recovery. Also note that Voltage will always ship with decryption, so those who want encryption will need to follow different flashing instructions.

    Build date : 10/07/2022

    Changelog :

    Device Side :
    - Switch to Soviet Star r3.1 dont flash any other kernel else you will face lag
    - Removed commonized IFAA, MTD service & Lights, switch back to device tree side impl.
    - Fixed charging led notification led not working
    - Force disable IORAPD as it eats more ram & google is removing it completely in a13
    - Force remove refrash rate tile for kernels which support < 60hz refresh rate as i dont support smooth display in device tree.
    - Add missing DRM blobs and completely remove old drm 1.0
    - Sync vendor with device tree add missing blobs.
    - Add missing permission for xiaomi parts, removed Dirac from parts.
    - Many miscellaneous improvements & minor bugs fixes
    - Those who want encryption can now use EFE and enjoy decryption in recovery be aware this is FBEv1 follow flashing guide on xda, All credits to @Pranav Talmale for fixing a12 decryption on FBEv1.
    - Voltage will always come with decryption no need to flash any DFE zips, if users want encryption they can flash EFE.
    - Added support for Smart Pixel also please be aware you wont be able to use udfps if you enable smart pixel this is present since smart pixel was introduced in roms from a11 times so dont cry that udfps not working with smart pixel.

    Source Side :

    Flashing instructions very important please read it carefully before asking doubts

    * FOR those who don't want encryption, no need to flash any dfe zip as rom is already decrypted by default so please dont flash any dfe zips
    * If users were encrypted on their previous roms they need to FORMAT DATA in recovery first
    its FORMAT and not WIPE understand the difference, if you dont format data the rom will bootloop as you have previous rom encryption.

    - Clean flash recommended
    - Use the latest official orange fox recovery from here
    - Format data if coming from encrypted rom
    - Wipe all the following
    * Dalvik / ART Cache
    * Cache
    * System
    * Vendor
    * Data
    - Flash latest miui a11 firmware for your specific region
    * Global | China | Europe Firmware
    * India Firmware
    - Flash VoltageOS + Gapps
    - Do not reboot in between flash everything at once, also no need to flash any dfe zip the rom is already decrypted by default.
    - Wipe Dalvik / ART Cache, Cache & Data
    - Reboot

    * For those who want to use rom with encryption
    This rom comes with FBE V1 encryption so those who have come from fbe v2 roms need to compulsory FORMAT DATA else it will bootloop due to fbe version mismatch.
    As decryption of internal storage is now fixed on a12 you will need different recovery to flash the rom and only this recovery can encrypt/decrypt rom, other recovery wont work.
    Special thanks to @Pranav Talmale for making a12 decryption work with FBE v1 all credits goes to him for the recovery

    - Clean flash recommended
    - Use TWRP recovey with a12 decryption fixed from here
    - Format data
    - Wipe all the following
    * Dalvik / ART Cache
    * Cache
    * System
    * Vendor
    * Data
    - Flash latest miui a11 firmware for your specific region
    * Global | China | Europe Firmware
    * India Firmware
    - Flash VoltageOS + Gapps + EFE
    - Do not reboot in between flash all zip at once
    - Wipe Dalvik / ART Cache, Cache & Data
    - Reboot

    After trying a few Android 12 ROMs I finally got around to try this one. It's clean and fast, everything I ever wanted in a ROM.

    However, it charges slow AF on my phone like the other 12 based ROMs. Did I miss a setting somewhere?

    This is using the original charger and cable, as well as another charger and cable which had no problems charging faster on MIUI 12.5.
    Después de probar algunas ROM de Android 12, finalmente pude probar esta. Es limpio y rápido, todo lo que siempre quise en una ROM.

    Sin embargo, carga AF lento en mi teléfono como las otras ROM basadas en 12. ¿Me perdí un ajuste en alguna parte?

    Esto está usando el cargador y el cable originales, así como otro cargador y cable que no tuvo problemas para cargar más rápido en MIUI 12.5.

    Edit: The same thing happens to me, and not only that, with the passing of days the battery lasts less, and to top it off the battery always decalibrates, the phone turns off before reaching 10%. It's a shame because I had to go back to android 10 and calibrate the battery to make it work normally again A pity because I really like these roms with android 12.1 but I had to go back to previous versions of android
