How to Write a Good Pitch Email to YouTubers

I get a lot of of emails from companies asking me to try their product and make a video about it. I don’t respond to most of these emails, but a few do catch my eye and make me check out the product. Today I wanted to share a few things I find effective when I get one of these pitch emails.

  1. Make the name of your product super obvious. Put it in the subject line and lead with it in the body. Hell, bold it as well.
  2. Include a link to your product as early as possible in the message.
  3. Describe your product in one sentence. If it takes a few paragraphs to explain the value, then I’m just not going to read it all.
  4. Tell me what type of proposal you’re making. Is it an ad, a full sponsored video, a review, or something else?
  5. Don’t personalize the email unless it’s actually personal. I can’t tell you how many emails I get that are like “Hello, A Better Computer, we love your channel, especially this video {link to video completely unrelated to this product}”
  6. Include a screenshot or a GIF of your product. Visuals go a long way!

You're never going to get everyone to read your email, but I think following these tips will help improve this considerably.

Hey there, I'm Matt!

I'm a UI/UX designer at NMI and I make videos over on A Better Computer, which I think you'll love.
