I had a scare yesterday when I closed my 2021 Macbook Pro M1 and it didn't quite close right. Turns out a tiny grain of cat litter had gotten on the palmrest and was touching the screen.
Thankfully it didn't cause any damage, but I imagine it might have cracked the display had it been further back, like in the area above the keyboard, where there would have been more leverage from closing the screen.
I wasn't looking when I closed it, had to go quickly and didn't see it. It was very nearly a disaster. So just be aware of this, check the laptop for debris before closing it especially if you have cats that like to hang out on your desk. My 20 year old cat sometimes tracks litter up there (yeah, it's gross, but he gets a pass as he's the equivalent of a 100 year old person) and this could have been a lot worse! I had to tell the story to potentially save other Macbook users from disaster.
