Finished my order three minutes after they started. Custom order (16GB RAM) and delivered by 7/22.

We’ll see.

After staying awake till 5am California time (PST) when the M2 13″ MBPro went on sale last month (because I did not read the coarse print noting the MBAir would not be launched on the same day), this time I tried to stop watching The Umbrella Academy by Midnight (the color of my future) and successfully set the Apple watch to wake me at 4:45am.

Second time’s a sleepy charm?

My Bachman Turner Overdrive (BTO) purchase cleared my brilliant Apple credit card at 5:07am and showed a standard delivery date of Aug 2-9. My build will have a 1TB SSD and who can resist 24GB of unified memory, right? More than I can say about this country these days… 😞

But back to the happy stuff…I’m psyched!

There’s not a lot in tech that excites me these days, but I’m loving the incredible power and power management of these M-series SoC chips Taiwan Semi is cranking out for Apple. Never thought I’d ever own anything other than Apple’s top-o-da-line laptops, but these cool running, battery sipping, fanless, blazing MBAirs are everything a retired (or just “tired”) tech could need!

Totally worth the sleep deprivation this time around. 😴

One last note about financing.

To quote Rod Serling, “Consider this,…” you are throwing away money if you don’t have an Apple CC.

3% off all AppleStore purchases (currently the only place I use mine) is real money when you’re talking about the cost of an Apple computer. Add to that, 0% financing if you want to take a year to pay off your purchase in monthly installments?! How great is that, especially as you see interest rates skyrocket?

I keep telling my buddy at the Motley Fool that Apple is going to be a powerhouse with its surgical strikes in finance. And wait till Sept/Oct when iOS 16 launches with the new Buy Now, Pay Later option for all purchases anywhere?

The Apple CC is not perfect (still no easy way to download into Quickbooks), I think it’s the most consumer friendly card I’ve ever had. I decided to try out the free 12 mos. financing option with purchase of a Mac Studio and it seems impossible I could ever miss a payment. Wallet gives me these (somehow) non-annoying messages as the due date approaches. And if it takes more than 30 seconds in the app to pay the monthly bill, consider getting it done before Happy Hour next time.

I’ve been in the Apple ecosystem as a consumer and a pro my whole life, but continue to be impressed these days how many right moves Apple continues to make. As we all know, Apple is almost never first to market with a hardware or software product, but they continue to crush nearly every time when they finally do.

Can’t wait for my brighter Midnight to arrive next month. 🤩

Agreed about the AppleCard. They semi-recently allowed integration with Mint which was erased on its. big drawbacks for me.
Buying Apple products from the Apple Store gives 3% cash back and gives you interest free payments over 1 or 2 years. If you are trading in it gives instant trade in rebate too. The 3% comes back to you immediately not as you make the interest free payments over the 1 or 2 years. And that rewards cash becomes available in just a couple of days. You use the rewards as needed on the spot with the Apple Cash part of the card. 2% everywhere you use ApplePay with the AppleCard. Almost no fees for anything. It integrates with your iPhone so pretty much most of the work is taken out of managing it.
My one compliant is using the physical Apple Card. Most places have ApplePay but if they don’t, it would be better to see something around 1.5% cash back. So I use a no fee 2% Visa card for the physical card transactions, Definitely a bigger PITA to maintain and the rewards process is slow but it is just worth it for the extra 1%,

Shame that Apple Card not available in Australia… just not an option

That is a shame. I wonder why that has yet to happen. Regulatory stuff, or a decision on Apple’s part to delay, or?…

I suspect it’s still part of Apple’s plan to put to use the big pile of cash for more than just stock buybacks. If they can increase sales (and market share) by offering 0% financing for 2-12 mos. I’m sure that’s that goal.

Seems to me Apple’s sitting pretty in terms of a lot of choice in how they can employ their riches. As interest rates rise, I think the offer of 0% financing is going to be more of a pull for many industries and car loans come to mind.

Hmm…I wonder if Apple will ever get into the business of car loans…. 🚙
