Samsung Internally Starts Testing OneUI 5.0 Ahead of Beta Program

Report claims the first beta build is tested internally

Google is working hard on finalizing the next version of Android, and just as expected, all of its partners are also trying to prepare this new operating system for their devices.

Samsung is working day and night to make sure Android 13 feels at home on its smartphones, and as per previous reports, a beta program that would allow users to test the operating system on devices like the Galaxy S22 series is expected to kick off this month.

And a report from SamMobile seems to suggest that this is indeed the case, as Samsung has recently started the internal testing of the first OneUI 5.0 beta. This is pretty much the update to Android 13, as Samsung will also ship a new version of OneUI when the new operating system is ready for launch.

At this point, the internal testing takes place on the Galaxy S22, so most likely, this will be the first device to receive the Android 13 update later this month.

According to the report, the first wave of devices could get Android 13 and OneUI 5.0 in October, though the timing could be a little bit different if the company comes across any potential bugs that require additional time to be fixed.

For now, however, it’s pretty clear that Samsung wants to ship the Android 13 update to its devices in a timely manner. In the last few years, the company has significantly improved the update cadence, as the most anticipated updates are typically launched much earlier than it happened in the past.

For the sake of comparison, new Android versions were typically released in December or early January to the first flagships, whereas the Galaxy S22 is now expected to get Android 13 and OneUI in October if the testing program advances according to the plan.
