苹果正在加强自研CPU，而基带也是其中一环，不过它的进程要比预想的难了不少，毕竟有了芯片后，他们还要跟全球不同的运营商一起测试，工程量特别的大。
在过去几年中，苹果一直在研发5G modem芯片，最终目标是让iPhone搭载苹果自研5G芯片，取代高通5G芯片。不过，今天知名苹果分析师郭明錤表示，苹果5G芯片研发可能已经失败，这意味着2023年的iPhone依然会使用高通芯片。高通将获得100%订单。
此前郭认为苹果2023年的iPhone将使用苹果自行设计的调制解调器芯片，而不是高通芯片。
现在预计高通将为2023年的iPhone机型提供100%的芯片，而不是只有20%。不过苹果将继续开发自己的5G芯片，但需要更多的时间来完成这项工作，在令人满意后置入iPhone和其他设备中使用。
