The mass production should kick off in July or August

   New iPhones launching in September

Apple is currently evaluating part of the OLED displays that would be used on the iPhone 14, according to a recent report, as the company is making another big step towards the beginning of the mass production.

The Elec claims the BOE displays that Apple is currently testing are aimed at the iPhone 14 – the model that will come with a 6.1-inch display.

If everything goes as planned, the mass production should kick off in July or August before the official unveiling takes place in September.

Four iPhone models launching this year

Just like in 2021, Apple is expected to launch four different iPhone models this year.

However, the Cupertino-based tech giant is very likely to give up on the iPhone mini, as the company is no longer satisfied with the sales recorded by the 5.4-inch form factor.

As a result, the four-model lineup will include an all-new 6.7-inch iPhone that will serve as a larger version of the 6.1-inch model. While some sources claim the device could end up launching as the iPhone 14 Plus, there’s a chance Apple sticks with the Max moniker specifically to create some consistency in its lineup.

In addition to the standard iPhone 14 and the all-new iPhone 14 Max/Plus, Apple will also launch the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max in the same sizes as in 2021.

The biggest changes will be the demise of the notch on the Pro models, as Apple will go for a punch-hole screen similar to the one available on flagship Samsung devices. The notch, however, will continue to be offered on non-Pro iPhones, as Apple is working on giving customers more benefits when spending more money on the upgraded devices.

The launch of the iPhone 14 generation is expected to take place in September.
