Hi everybody! I am still pondering to install this rom. Does anybody can tell me if with this rom I can connect on a 5ghz wifi? cause other android 11 roms don't seem to work

Yes it works, just tested it for you. I do have a TP-Link Archer C6, and I can see and connect to both networks, 2.4GHz and 5Ghz.

You probably forgot "format data". I have the XT1685 (also eu) model. Here is my full guide:

First download and copy two zips to smartphone if you didn't already.
Turn off smartphone. Press 2 buttons Volume Down and Power, until TWRP appears.
Choose RECOVERY MODE by pressing Volume Down about 2 times.
Press Power.
Wipe, Advanced Wipe, select Dalvik / ART Cache, System, Data, Cache.
Swipe to Wipe.
3 times Back (<)
Install, crDroidAndroid-11.0-20220223-potter-v7.15.zip.
Add more zips, open_gapps-arm64-11.0-nano-20220202.zip.
Swipe to confirm Flash.
Wipe Cache/Dalvik, Swipe to Wipe.
3 times Back (<)
Wipe, Format Data. Enter yes, Press Blue button.
Reboot System.
Finally got the chance to test this ROM. I was just having the same problem with it getting stuck at the loading animation, but this solved it. Same problem trying an unofficial LineageOS 18.1 build, but I haven't tried this method yet on that one.

Any idea exactly why Format Data is required to avoid this problem?

This is the first smartphone I ever unlocked and installed another ROM on it. So I have read more guides (on youtube) to do it. Most of them mention the format data. It seems an unnecessary step, but have found out it's needed. So I have created a guide myself including this step. At this moment I have done this procedure on multiple Moto G5 Plus smartphones, and multipledifferent ROM's.

I guess I'll have to remember to use OTG storage to do ROM testing on this phone from here on out; otherwise, I'd have to keep copying over those img and zip files for every flash, and move off any backups every time.

Backup is always a good idea. I always choose to copy from my other, last used Moto G5 Plus, when installing another rom. That way foto's, settings, call history, sms messages are all copied. But I guess you only have one Moto G5 Plus. May be you can make a fresh in the cloud (Google) backup before flashing, and restore it. Or just copy the things you want to save to a pc using the usb cable, or to a sd-card if you have one.

Technically, I've got two, this 32GB one, and a locked 64GB Amazon version. I got the latter one to use as a backup while I play around with the OSes on the 32GB one. The other night I went through the usual process, side-by-side, lol, making sure I had all my apps and stuff copied over and logged in.
Yeah, whenever I've unlocked a phone, I make full TWRP backups to a microSD card, and then put at least another copy elsewhere.

You mean all of crdroids or all of the android 11? Cause iI can tell you for sure pixelexperience 11 and Arrow 11 could not connect to the 5ghz connection, while pixelexperience 10 can. At least on this device

Oh no. It's the potter thread. I mis-read. Apologies.

Further testing, running into an issue. A Tello (T-Mobile) SIM was working perfectly fine in crdroid, IMS registered and everything, but I swapped in a Page Plus (Verizon) SIM from my stock potter phone where it was working and IMS registered, and here it is not IMS registering in my crdroid potter phone. I tried selecting the APN that usually works, rebooting it multiple times, going in and out of airplane mode, removing and re-inserting the SIM, etc. So far, no data or calling working, can't find any networks, emergency calling only, etc.

That's strange, as I mentioned before, I have tested it for you on my TP-Link router which has 2.4 and 5GHz. I can connect to both using CrDroid. My backup Moto G5 Plus has LineageOS 18 (Android 11) and also sees both networks. And I also have tried it with a another Moto G5 Plus from someone I know, he is using ArrowOS 11, and that works too. All 3 are XT-1685 models. Not sure if other models have other wifi chipsets.

I only have one simcard, Simpel (T-Mobile) and that's woking fine for calling and SMS and mobile data. Are you using the CrDroid calling app or the Google calling app? I have disabled the CrDroid calling app and am uing the Google calling app (from OpenGApps). I did have bad reception using the CrDroid calling app, but it might be some wrong setting. The Google calling app does work fine using the automatic network setting. Also I do like the Google phone number recognition, which also works for known business phone numbers which are not in your own addressbook.

One thing I noticed, and tangential to this, is that stock potter wouldn't connect to an OpenWRT router on 2.4GHz (it would try a few times and then disable itself), but would connect on 5GHz. I had no problems with the other potter phone with crdroid connecting on either spectrum.

I don't think that's the issue. I believe the hidden "Phone information" menu (*#*#4636#*#*) was showing disconnected or no signal for voice, the phone was displaying "emergency service only" at the top, it wasn't IMS registered, the setting for automatically selecting a carrier wasn't showing a carrier detected, and data didn't work.
This kind of reminds me of a persistent bug in harpia (Moto G4 Play) ROMs where some unknown difference with how some carrier's SIM cards are detected (possibly something with how the firmware enumerates the board's SIM card slots) would break data unless you did some, hard to reproduce, gymnastics with flashing LOS 14.1 then re-flashing the current version.

Same model as mine. Many router send both signals, 2.4ghz and 5 GHz, at the same time. May that be the case?

In my case, I have configured my router in a way that both networks have a different SSID, TP-Link_XXXX and TP-Link_XXXX_5G. They have the same WPA key. But I can choose which one to connect to. If you have the same SSID's for both, you can't see.

Have you tried the ROM yet, or are you just speculating on this? Mine is set up like @cjdijk 's with separate names, and connected fine to both 2.4GHz and 5GHz when I tested it a few days ago (even hidden SSIDs).
