May's consumer price index, a key indicator of inflation, will be released early Friday morning and projections are for 8.3%.
Video Transcript
SEANA SMITH: Time for our key stat to watch tomorrow, and that's inflation. We are going to get the CPI print ahead of tomorrow's opening bell at 8:30 AM Eastern time. Now, Wall Street's expecting the Consumer Price Index to be up 8.3% year over year-- that's the same as April-- while core inflation is expected to cool slightly.
Now, sky-high energy prices are driving that headline number and putting a spotlight on the debate about whether or not inflation has peaked. Now, gas prices right now are at another record today. You can see it on your screen, $4.97, inching closer and closer to that $5 level.

U.S. didn’t get any relief from high inflation in May – CPI to show another big gain
Wall Street is looking for a sign, any sign, that U.S. inflation is coming off a rapid boil. But they are unlikely to find much cooling off in May's report on consumer prices.

Biden visiting LA port as high inflation persists as threat
The Port of Los Angeles is a testament to President Joe Biden’s unrewarded efforts to address what he calls his top economic priority: inflation. Biden will speak at the port, America's busiest, on Friday with inflation persisting as a problem that has eluded his policy tweaks, deals brokered with the private sector, infrastructure spending and regulatory actions. The port moved to round-the-clock operations last October under an agreement that the White House helped to shepherd.

New Inflation Numbers Are Coming. Don’t Be Misled.
An expected decline in the core consumer price index, however, might give investors a false sense of comfort that the Federal Reserve will be able to slow its aggressive campaign to rein in rising prices. Economists polled by The Wall Street Journal expect overall CPI to show a 0.7% increase in May from April, more than double the prior 0.3% month-over-month pace. Year over year, economists expect headline inflation rose 8.3% in May, the same pace as in April.

Intel Stock: Buy the Dip or Bail? Morgan Stanley Weighs In
Intel (INTC) investors are having a bad week -- and it may get worse before it gets better. Heading into this week, things were already looking grim for Intel. Then on Monday, Citigroup analyst Christopher Danely chopped his firm's price target on Intel by 10%, to $45 a share, citing likely weakened demand for semiconductors in this year's seco

Billionaire Paul Tudor Jones Loads Up on These 3 High-Yield Dividend Stocks
For the retail investor, the only certainty of our current market environment is uncertainty. The reasons are multiplying: high inflation is rising higher, wages are not keeping up, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has initiated Europe’s largest war since 1945, and energy and food commodities – key ingredients in the inflation mix – are sure to rise in price as a result of that fighting. In a time like this, it’s good to find a guide, a market expert whose trading can stand as an example. Paul Tudor
