How to Deactivate or Delete Your Quora Account

If you no longer want to use Quora, you can deactivate or delete your account.

Despite all of its benefits, Quora is not for everybody. If you've tried the platform out and decided that you no longer wish to have an account, you may be looking to deactivate or permanently delete your account.

Luckily, it's easy to do so and doesn't take long.

Deactivating vs. Deleting Your Quora Account

Before you take any steps outlined here, it is important to note that there is a difference between deactivating your account and deleting it.

With deletion, your account will permanently be deleted instantly. With deactivation, your account can always be reactivated if you log back into Quora. You don't need to reactivate your Quora account to read content, however, as there are ways to read Quora answers without logging in.

Unless you're confident that you will never use your Quora account again, it is advisable to simply deactivate your account if you no longer wish to use the platform. You won't receive emails and users won't be able to interact with you, but you'll have the option of reactivating the account if you ever change your mind.

Deactivating or Permanently Deleting Your Quora Account on PC

On the browser version of Quora, deactivating or permanently deleting your account can be done in a few simple steps.

1. Go to Quora.com and ensure you are logged in.
2. Click your Profile icon in the top right of the screen.
3. On the side menu, click Privacy.
4. On the Privacy settings menu, scroll down until you see two options: Deactivate Account and Delete Account.
5. Click the one you want to do (Deactivate or Delete), enter your password and then click Done.

You should now have deactivated or permanently deleted your account.

Deactivating or Permanently Deleting Your Quora Account on Mobile

Deactivating or permanently deleting your Quora account on the app is pretty much the same steps you'd do on PC, but the navigation is slightly different.

1. Open the Quora app.
2. Tap your Profile icon in the top left of the screen, and then tap Settings from the side menu.
3. Tap Privacy.
4. Scroll down, and tap either Deactivate Account or Delete Account, depending on the option you wish to take.
5. Enter your password and then tap Done.

With these steps, you should now have deactivated or permanently deleted your Quora account.

Moving Away From Quora

Regardless of whether you use Quora's browser version or mobile app, by following the steps outlined here you will have deactivated or permanently deleted your Quora account.

There are many social media platforms out there that take up your time and attention, but you may want to consider whether social media can actually be good for you before making the decision to remove yourself from various platforms.
