According to Apple's release notes, the 15.5.1 HomePod update addresses an issue that could cause music to stop playing after a short time.

‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌HomePod‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌ software is installed automatically on the ‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌HomePod‌‌‌‌‌ unless the feature is disabled‌‌‌‌, but the ‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌HomePod‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌ can also be manually updated in the Home app by following the instructions in our HomePod‌‌ update how to.

I still have the problem of my HomePod playing some random playlist by itself, all at random times during the day and night.

When mine did that a couple times, it was the beginning of the end for me.

Simply refuse to have any device malfunctioning in that way.

Looks like it's only for the minis for right now. Really hope they don't just leave the OG hanging like that...

Nice, I was wondering if this was just happening to me on my mini.

I have an issue where sometimes when AirPlaying Spotify to stereo OG home pods, there would be an audible hiss. Like anyone would notice, not being picky. Not 100% sure if it's also happened on my downloaded library on the Music app as well.

I didn’t know this was a widespread issue. I had the same issue last week. Very creepy.

Yup, mine just got through as well. Glad they're not leaving it behind!

Sorry, that was me. I'll stop AirPlaying to the random neighbor's HomePod that keeps showing up on my devices.

Great, that issue has only happened to me for months with iPhone and Mac.
Glad it's now fixed on AppleTV and HomePod 🤷🏻‍♂️

Does it really matter if your "smart" connected speaker stops playing music?

It's not like it's entire purpose is to play music

...wait a minute..

My HomePod minis have become a huge disappointment. They rarely do what I want. They act erratically. The voice control with Siri is flaky. They take over my phone’s music and podcast app. When I first got them with iOS 14 they worked well. But with iOS 15 they are terrible.

I’ve had this issue for years when asking Siri to play something on my HomePod. It’ll usually play a song for 15 seconds before stopping, even though the timer is still going when I look at the playback status from my iPhone. At some point it’ll just skip to the next song, or cycle through several tracks until it starts playing again. Hopefully this will resolve that.

Unfortunately there will never be a fix for the Homepod bug that prevents it from being used with an aux input, or with bluetooth, or anything other than and iCloud account.

I have this problem on my regular big HomePods. Driving me crazy. Sound cuts out. Then after a bit comes on only to cut out again.

Did you just realize this now, or do you like to complain about the obvious?

Next you'll tell us Apple Watch doesn't work with Android, and iPhone doesn't run Windows software.

And I can't use my Android phone with my Apple Watch. Shame on you, Apple!
