Technology has come a very long way over the past 15 years, with speed, reliability and capability as a starting point. With those changes have come increased accessibility and now, we’re seeing Google Street View take to Sydney waters on the ferries.

Google’s blog post tells of the development of Street View and the iconic sites already captured by the Street View Trekker:

treasures like the Sydney Opera House, high up to the Blue Mountains, deep underwater in the Great Barrier Reef, across the desert in Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park – and joined a migration of crabs on Christmas Island crab migration.

The partnership with Transport NSW and transdev will make sharing the Sydney harbour and iconic ferries possible worldwide. We’ve got some stunning landscapes in Australia, by allowing more people to see them, attracting more visitors to our shores over time could be a great result for tourism in the region.

What sites within Australia would you like to see the Trekker visit next?
