Challenge accepted! SAP HANA Graph Challenge 2022 – Submission open!

1 8 226

We all have this one friend who refers to every distance as walking distance, be it 500 m or 5000 m. If you have ever been to our SAP Campus in Walldorf you probably know all too well that the distance between various buildings can be quite long.

Now you might be wondering what this has to do with SAP HANA Graph. The answer is, SAP HANA Graph can help us to calculate distances down to the meter. Thus, it can provide us at least with the shortest path if we need to walk somewhere.

With this challenge, we want to encourage you to get familiar with SAP HANA Graph and its fantastic capabilities while getting some hands-on work done.

Understand our challenge

You work in building WDF 53, your friend is in building WDF 13. You haven’t seen each other in a while and therefore want to meet to have a chat over some coffee. Having busy schedules, you want to avoid that one must walk all the way while the other one can just stay in the building. Therefore, you want to find the building “in between”, so both of you need to walk a minimal distance.

In this challenge, you’ll work with a subset of data from OpenStreetMap® representing buildings, streets, and sidewalks on the SAP campus in Walldorf, Germany.

WDF53%20and%20WDF13.

WDF53 and WDF13.

We are challenging you to determine the building which is in the closest walking distance (fair share for both colleagues) from both buildings, WDF53 and WDF13, using SAP HANA Graph.

We are looking for the building name and the distance from building WDF13 and WDF53 to the building where the meeting will take place.

The challenge will end on June 19, 2022.

You can find our video kicking off the challenge on Youtube.

If you have any questions, please feel free to post them in the comment section below this blogpost.
