The decade-long international legal battle for the family of President Mubarak has come to an end following the recent ruling of the EU General Court. The court’s ruling acknowledged once again that restrictive measures imposed on the family by the EU Council were unlawful from the outset for relying on Egyptian proceedings that violated their fundamental fair trial rights as guaranteed by the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
