Speech to Text. What am I doing wring?

If I say "Hey Google, message Tom", it gets the contact and prompts for a message. I say something very simple like "games" then "question mark", I see it enter "Games" then add "?" and then change the "G" to lower case. Why? Then it has a very awkward interface to edit. I select to make a change and see the correction at the bottom but at the top it still shows “games?” with a lower case “g” and a check mark under it to send. ???

Then when dictating something more complex, a few sentences long, it throws random periods in the middle of sentences. They made a big deal about the speech to text being better on the 6 but it seems worse for me than the Pixel 4. Are you to be stating all the punctuation as you talk? My spelling and punctuation is really bad. I'll say something like "Would you like to go get some food latter?" and it puts "would you like to. get some food latter?" I guess you could say it should have a comma ("Would you like to, go get some food latter?") but why a period? Maybe I slur when I talk.
