The following JEP is proposed to target JDK 19: 424: Foreign Function & Memory API (Preview) https://openjdk.java.net/jeps/424 Summary: Introduce an API by which Java programs can interoperate with code and data outside of the Java runtime. By efficiently invoking foreign functions (i.e., code outside the JVM), and by safely accessing foreign memory (i.e., memory not managed by the JVM), the API enables Java programs to call native libraries and process native data without the brittleness and danger of JNI. This is a preview API. Feedback on this proposal from JDK Project Committers and Reviewers [1] is more than welcome, as are reasoned objections. If no such objections are raised by 23:59 UTC on Wednesday, 11 May, or if they’re raised and then satisfactorily answered, then per the JEP 2.0 process proposal [2] I’ll target this JEP to JDK 19. - Mark [1] https://openjdk.java.net/census#jdk [2] https://cr.openjdk.java.net/~mr/jep/jep-2.0-02.html
