8.5 fast charging not working on Series 7 with third party dock?

I’m having issues with fast charging since the 8.5 install.

Essentially, fast charging does work with the dedicated USB C cable included in the Series 7 box and 20w adapter, but does not work with the Belkin fast charge dock introduced as it did previously.

I’ve become accustom to quick charging, and am curious if others are having this issue?

Same problem here with the Belkin fast charging dock. I’ve noticed that if I see it’s charging slowly, take it off and put it back on the charger then it’s good. Never had that issue before watchOS 8.5

Could it have anything to do with the Apple being a 20W charger and the Belkins being just 15W?

No, this is the new Belkin charger that was made for fast charging Watch Series 7. It’s worked previously no issues.

I'll add that in my household, there are 2 different Belkin fast charging docks used by 2 different S7 Apple Watches all having this issue.

Same issue, since 8.5 it’s not fast charging, and barely charging at all on the Belkin Boost Charge Pro.

Guess I’ll try the original cable again

Did someone find a fix regarding this issue? Still have incredibly slow charging rate on my Belkin. 3-in-1. Works fine on the included Apple Watch charger

Also have a belkin 3-1, how can you tell if it’s fast charging or not?

Seems to be charging fine for me. 🤔

Belkin makes two 3-in-1 Made for MagSafe chargers

Only this one has the fast charging puck for Apple Watch:

Yep, forgot they released the boost up pro with fast charging for Apple Watch, I’ve got the 1st gen 3-1 charger, which doesn’t have fast charging.

Hopefully it gets fixed asap for you guys.

I’m having the same painful charging (or non-charging) with my expensive new Belkin 3-n-1 MagSafe (+ fast charging for compatible watches) charger. The 8.5 update to WatchOS is definitely the culprit. How can we either roll-back the update, or better yet, inform Apple about this serious bug with “authorized” accessories? Thanks!

I contacted Apple Support on Twitter but they just directed me towards Belkin support despite me saying it looked like the 8.5 update was responsible 🤷🏼‍♂️

Since the update, my S7 is even being finicky with the apple cable and apple 20w charger. However, I've found that force restarting the watch before putting it on the charger can make the fast charge work, but it is far from an ideal situation.

I have the same problem here. After one hour charging on the belkin 3in1 the Apple Watch battery increased only 10%. This only started after updating to whatchOS 8.5

I’ve posted this problem on the Apple support forums: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/253749797

Hope they solve this soon…

Same problem here with the new 3-in-1 Belkin boost and AW7. Worked fine before 8.5

really sad, because I bought the Belkin directly from Apple to avoid such problems.

Restarting my Apple Watch before charging it helped, but I read somewhere that it was only a temporary fix

This is just a wild guess: Do you see the same behavior if you briefly disconnect the Belkin's power, then reconnect, and then set the watch on the charger?

I have had this exact same issue and its started on the very first 8.5 beta. I thought it was a beta thing but even on the official release it has broken charging on Belkin's fast charger.

I am going on a trip and really wanted to just take this one charging pad but now I can't

So this is strange but the last 2 times I charged my watch using the belkin fast charger, it worked fine. No need to place, remove, place again. It’s just working as expected and charging fast. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Will continue to monitor.

OMG, I tonight I was going crazy. I have the Belkin 3-in-1 charger with fast charging for Apple Watch 7. Since I upgraded to watchOS 8.5 it basically stopped charging on this charger!

So I’ve moved to the second level of belkin support, they should reach to me today to get more informations about the issue itself. It’s annoying that it takes so much time, but it’s better than nothing
