最近发表的三项研究显示，在感染新冠之后和接种完整疗程的疫苗能提供更长时间的免疫保护。不过研究收集的数据来自 Omicron 变种流行前，不清楚对 Omicron 变种流行的今天是否有效。研究驳斥了感染 COVID-19 之后不会受益于疫苗接种的观点。研究人员发现，在 2020 年 2 月到 2021 年 11 月期间，以前感染过新冠病毒 SARS-CoV-2 的人如果接受一剂辉瑞-BioNTech、牛津-阿斯利康、科兴或强生公司生产的疫苗，能避免多达 45% 的新冠病例，完整接受两剂疫苗的人可避免多达 65% 的预期感染和 80% 以上的预期严重病例。
