Ubisoft concludes Ghost Recon Breakpoint support, no further updates incoming

Over two years after its launch, Ubisoft has pulled Ghost Recon Breakpoint's live service plug. While servers will remain online offering both solo and cooperative play for the Tom Clancytitle, no further updates from the developer Ubisoft Paris will reach the game, much like Ghost Recon Wildlands.

The announcement arrived via Twitter, with Ubisoft saying, "the last four months marked the release of our final piece of content: Operation Motherland", which was a conquest-like alternative mode to the original story mode. "We will continue to maintain our servers for both Ghost Recon Wildlands and Ghost Recon Breakpoint and we truly hope you will continue to enjoy the game," added the studio.

While not received well by critics nor fans at launch, Ubisoft quickly launched a major reworking project to reintroduce classic features and much-needed tactical elements to the open-world cooperative title. Over the years, this included adding AI teammates, an immersive mode to reduce the RPG-ness, a UI rework, and more. Several crossovers with other IPs, multiplayer addons, and even a controversial NFT implementation have also reached the title in updates.

It's unclear where the tactical shooter side of Ghost Recon will go from here. While a new game in the series is in development, titled Frontline, it is slated to be a free-to-play battle royale, dropping the original elements of the franchise completely.
