vRealize Automation 8.7 Brings Deeper Security and Kubernetes Automation to vRealize Suite

With the recently announced general availability of vRealize Automation 8.7 (“vRA”), vRealize Suite has received a major boost to its Kubernetes automation functionality, among other platform enhancements.

Tanzu Kubernetes Grid delivers an enterprise-ready Kubernetes runtime across any cloud(s), streamlining operations for developers across private, hybrid, or multi-cloud infrastructure. With vRA 8.7, TKG clusters can now be requested, created, and managed from within vRealize. DevOps teams need easy access to any service required for application development, so the inclusion of TKG is a huge step for streamlining development processes across traditional and modern applications.

Other major improvements include (1) policy enhancements around deployment limits – in other words, letting cloud admins set boundaries on resources like CPU and memory that can be requested within a deployment – and (2) UI enhancements within the Resources section of vRA.

And, although not included out-of-the-box with vRealize Suite, suite users can also add on vRA SaltStack SecOps, which gets a major boost in the vRA 8.7 release as well.

IT operators must consider the security ramifications of infrastructure configuration. Automated configuration is a critical tool in any management stack, but the rules behind that automation must take potential security risks and vulnerabilities into account. That’s exactly why we’ve integrated Carbon Black Cloud Workload with vRA SaltStack SecOps. For specifics on how Carbon Black’s vulnerability insights give SaltStack the power to make more intelligent configuration decisions, read our announcement blog on the integration.
