7 Questions with Linktree’s New President Mike Olson

Meet the newest member of our Leadership team.

We’re super excited to have Linktree’s new President, Mike Olson, officially join us this week, so we thought we’d get to know him a bit better. Find out why Mr A Game is his favorite Linktree and what he looks forward to most about his time with Linktree below.

Tell us about your life before Linktree. What were you doing before you joined?

I’ve spent the last 10+ years working within the creator economy. Most recently, I oversaw growth initiatives at Twitch which included building out the music vertical, leading mobile gaming, and serving as the Managing Director of LATAM. On the personal side, my two boys keep me very busy playing soccer, building legos, riding bikes, and goofing around.

You’ll be our first president. Could you share a bit about your role?

My role involves overseeing and supporting most of the go-to-market functions at Linktree. Linktree is growing tremendously and I’m excited to help scale the business as we take it to the next level! I’ll also be building out a team and growing our presence in the US and ensuring we maintain a fun and energetic vibe, consistent with the team in Australia.

What led you to join the Linktree rocketship?

The opportunity to empower creators and to work with a dynamic and inspirational team. Linktree is well positioned to help creators own and control their identity as well as engage their communities and monetize their passions. I’m lucky to combine my background and personal interests with a talented team at Linktree!

You’ve worked within the creator economy in the past. How do you see it evolving in the next 5 years?

I believe progress will be made in further empowering creators to more easily create content, grow and engage directly with their communities, and find more meaningful ways to make a living by following their passions. As the ecosystem around creators grows, more people will be inspired to follow this path, increasing the number of creators and expanding the way communities rally around and support them. The ultimate goal is to enable a creator’s pursuit of a passion to move from a side hustle to their full time gig.

What are you most excited about in being appointed President at Linktree?

To be in a position to make a meaningful impact on the lives of so many creators and to do so with an amazing group of people. Linktree is a rocketship and I’m looking forward to working with the team to continue to scale the business and take it to the next level!

Do you have a favorite Linktree? If so, which one?

Mr A-Game (/MrAGame) is a top choice for me. While his Linktree is somewhat simple, he’s a family safe streamer on Twitch and a favorite of my boys. When I told them I was leaving Twitch, they were initially bummed that I would no longer be working with Mr A Game, but when we saw that he was using Linktree, they were super excited and all in for Linktree!

You’re based in Portland, Oregon and you also grew up there. What are some of your favorite things to do there?

I enjoy being outdoors and skiing at Mount Bachelor, a good craft beer from local brewery Breakside or a coffee from Stumptown, and a live show at Roseland Theater or Crystal Ballroom. And, I love catching the occasional Trailblazers or Timbers game with my family.
