Tech how-to: Use your voice to control your TV
I have a rule: If an email is going to take me longer than a minute to write, I pick up the phone instead.
For many things, using our voices is just faster and easier. That’s true for controlling your phone too. Tap or click for genius commands to try with Siri or Google Assistant.
When writing or taking notes, dictating can be much easier than typing it all out. Tap or click for helpful tips for better dictation in Microsoft Word or Google Docs.
These same timesaving principles can be applied to your TV. You can speak to search for movies, control the volume, pause, rewind, skip to the next episode, and more.
Fire TV
Some Amazon, Toshiba, and Insignia brand TVs come with Fire TV built-in. With the Fire TV Alexa Voice Remote, you can browse apps, movies and shows, check the weather and sports scores, launch content and more with your voice.
It’s as easy as pressing a button:
• Hold down the Voice button on your remote and ask Alexa what you want (you don’t need to say “Alexa”), then release the button.
• You can search for a movie genre, actor, channel, pause, skip ahead, lower the volume, and more.
• Try these commands: Pause, play, resume, show me movies with Tom Hardy, return home, go to Prime Video, mute, switch to PlayStation.
If you have a Fire TV Stick, it probably came bundled with an Alexa Voice Remote. You can also purchase the remote separately if you need one.
Tube smarts: 5 things you didn't know your smart TV could do
Roku
Brands such as TCL, Sharp, RCA, and Sanyo manufacture TVs with Roku TV built-in. Some come with a voice remote, which you can purchase separately if you don't have one. Tap or click here to grab one for about $20.
All you need to do is press a button and speak:
• Press and hold the microphone button, speak your request, then release the button.
• Try searching for specific movies or TV shows. You can also try a category or genre. Open streaming apps, pause and rewind content, and browse music.

Here’s What AT&T Is Giving Investors in the WarnerMedia Spinoff—and How It Will Work
AT&T Inc. detailed its plans for the spinoff of WarnerMedia on Friday, with investors eventually expected to receive a share of the new streaming-media entity for every four AT&T shares they own. AT&T (ticker: T) is in the process of spinning off its WarnerMedia business in a combination with Discovery Inc. (DISCA), which executives have said would allow AT&T to refocus attention on core telecommunications efforts. The company expects the deal to close in April, and executives declared plans for a stock dividend to its investors for April 5 at the close of business.

Asia shares and oil slip; yen sinks as BOJ stays super-loose
Asian shares and oil prices both slid on Monday as coronavirus lockdown in Shanghai looked set to hit global activity, while the yen extended its stomach-churning descent as the Bank of Japan acted to keep local yields near zero. Early action on Monday was muted with MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan off 0.8%. Japan's Nikkei lost 0.4%, but is still almost 6% firmer for the month as a sinking yen promised to boost exporter earnings.

Why AMC Entertainment Turned In Another Stellar Week
Shares of AMC Entertainment (NYSE: AMC) ended the week 28.1% higher than where they closed last Friday, according to data from S&P Global Market Intelligence, after posting four out of five days of gains and continuing a winning streak that began nine days ago. The spark that ignited the rally was AMC's somewhat baffling purchase of a stake in Hycroft Mining (NASDAQ: HYMC), an all but defunct gold and silver miner in Nevada that shut down production in November because it was strapped for cash. Coupled with the investments, Hycroft has raised $195 million in two weeks.

Oil slumps as Shanghai lockdown raises fears over drop in demand
MELBOURNE/TOKYO (Reuters) -Oil prices plunged about $4 on Monday as concerns over slower fuel demand in China grew after authorities in Shanghai said they would shut the country's financial hub for a COVID-19 testing blitz over nine days. U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures hit a low of $109.30 a barrel, and were down $3.92, or 3.4%, at $109.98. "Shanghai's lockdown prompted a fresh sell-off from disappointed investors as they expected such a lockdown would be avoided," said Kazuhiko Saito, chief analyst at Fujitomi Securities Co Ltd.

Uncertain path for oil markets in coming days
The crude oil market heads into another week of uncertainty, buffeted on one side by the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine and the expansion of COVID-related lockdowns in China, the world's largest crude importer.
