Is Fashion Coming to the Metaverse? ALTAVA Thinks So

The excitement around the metaverse appears to be growing day by day. Billions of dollars are being invested in metaverse projects all over the world and Facebook has even thrown its hat into the ring with its parent company name now being Meta.

But a lot of the focus on the metaverse seems to be coming from the gaming or social angle. This is somewhat natural as most of our understanding of a virtual world where we can interact comes from games like the Sims. And while metaverse gaming is certainly on the rise, there are other aspects of its use that should be explored.

The project has certainly been well-received by the fashion world, with the likes of Vogue, Balmain, and Prada already collaborating with the platform.

ALTAVA also has big backing behind it. Its founder Andy Ku had previously been at the helm of Mstar, a virtual game that focused on virtual high fidelity, which is similar to the metaverse. After the game was sold to Netmarble, one of the largest game companies in Korea, he turned his attention to ALTAVA. 

On the company’s board, there is also Elizabeth von Guttman who has been involved in the fashion world for years now. With this arsenal of advisors and features, ALTAVA is gearing to make a splash in both the fashion and metaverse world. 

Why the Metaverse Needs Fashion

The enduring power of fashion of the decades cannot be denied and as the metaverse becomes part of our reality, fashion cannot be left behind. The metaverse is already on track to drive commerce in the real world and for fashion brands, this can be a means of not only creative expression but an investment as well. 

For fashion brands, especially newer ones, the task of creating metaverse tools from scratch could potentially slow down this development which, in turn, robs fashion fans of the experiences that they need. With platforms like ALTAVA, fashion shows, virtual malls, and all sorts of metaverse fashion events can be held and the new era of virtual fashion can be fully actualized.
