Apple to launch a high-end Mac mini this year

Apple is working on several fronts when it comes to new products, and while all eyes are now on the March 8 event when we could finally see the new iPhone SE and possibly the M2 chip, the company is already preparing several more exciting announcements for late 2022 and 2023.

It goes without saying the Cupertino-based iPhone giant has so far remained tight-lipped on everything related to its future announcements, but well-known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said in a recent tweet that an iMac Pro and a new Mac Pro wouldn’t arrive until 2023.

In other words, these two devices wouldn’t see the daylight this year, as Apple is apparently waiting until the next year to announce both of them.

2022 announcements

On the other hand, this doesn’t necessarily mean Apple wouldn’t come up with exciting new hardware this year.

A new powerful Mac mini, most likely a high-end model, will almost certainly see the daylight later this year, most likely in the fall – I’m guessing October or November, as per Apple’s typical release calendar. At the same time, Apple will also announce a more affordable external display, likely to come in the form of a 27-inch model without mini-LED.

2022 will also witness the debut of new iPhone models, most likely in September, as well as a new Apple Watch. The 2022 iPhone lineup will include four different models, though this time, the iPhone mini form factor would go away and make room for an all-new standard iPhone to be sold as iPhone 14 Max.

This will land as a larger sibling of the 6.1-inch model, with Apple to therefore stick with 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch iPhones entirely. The smallest iPhone in its lineup will be the iPhone SE which will get a refresh this week and will continue to sport a 4.7-inch panel.
