欧盟委员会提出了薪酬透明提案，确保欧盟内男女能同工同酬。提案提议的措施包括：雇主必须向求职者提供薪酬范围信息，不允许询问求职者的薪酬历史；雇员有权要求雇主提供同等职位者的平均薪酬信息；员工数超过 250 人的雇主必须公布男女之间的薪酬差异；如果薪酬差异超过 5%，如果雇主无法以性别中立的理由解释差异，那么雇主需要与雇员代表合作进行薪酬评估。受到性别薪酬歧视的雇员可以寻求赔偿。默认由雇主而不是雇员证明不存在薪酬歧视。
