Hey Product Hunt 👋,

This is our team’s first product launch! We’re thrilled to share Smart Standup with you: a smarter way to stay in sync with your team. We know that writing status updates takes time, so we built a tool that does it for you.

We created Smart Standup with the feedback of 50+ managers and individual contributors at startups and large companies to make it easier for teams to stay on the same page 🤝.

With Smart Standup you’ll be able to: ✍️ Summarize: have a comprehensive view of what you completed on a daily or weekly basis 📣 Share: publish your update to Slack with a single click of a button 🔗 Sync: have better visibility across your team of what everyone’s doing

We’re really excited to share Smart Standup with you and would love any questions or feedback you might have. We would especially love to hear your ideas around how your team stays in sync. Do not hesitate to ping any of us on here or send us an email at [email protected]!

@varun_jindal8 @sam_forman Hey Sam, It connects to your productivity tools (Slack, Docs, Github, Figma, etc) and tries to identify the most important activities you did in a given day. It looks for items where you made a significant contribution that will also be interesting to your coworkers, then it adds a couple of words to summarize what you did. For example, if you edited a design doc, submitted a PR, and fixed a bug that were all related, it would add a line to your summary like "Edited [doc link], merged [PR link], and fixed [bug link]". From there, you can add more context if needed before you share with your team.

Such a cool product — how does it aggregate and determine status updates from a technical perspective?
@samay_shamdasani It pulls in activities you've done from the APIs of the collaboration tools that you use (Slack, Github, Figma, Docs, etc) and then ranks and filters those activities down to the ones that are best suited for a standup update. e.g. you made a significant contribution, it's a shared link that will be relevant to your coworkers, etc. To do the filtering and ranking, we have an internal graph representation of how all of the people and assets connect to one another, which enables us to do things like figure out which items are most likely to be relevant to your team members or which activities we should bundle together because they're part of the same project.
