So let’s start! Tell us a bit about yourself. For example, name, profession, and personal interests.

Hi, my name is Allan Mang’eni, and I am a Software Engineer based in Nairobi, Kenya. My interests are in Blockchain, and I’m passionate about contributing to Bitcoin.

Interesting! What was your latest Hackernoon Top story about?

Smart contracts on Bitcoin. The article covered how developers can write smart contracts on Bitcoin through the Stacks network, Drivechains, and Taproot. Bitcoin is one of the most Decentralized and secure networks compared to other networks, and the story gives insights on how Developers can make Bitcoin scalable by unlocking smart contract capabilities.

Do you usually write on similar topics? If not, what do you usually write about?

I am not limited to writing similar topics. I also write about the learning curve for developers, Technical documentation for various Web 2.0 frameworks, and much more.

Great! What is your usual writing routine like (if you have one?)

I don’t have a perfect routine but hopefully, I wish to write 3-4 stories per month from next year. Currently, I write based on my experiences and learning curve in the Tech space.

Being a writer in tech can be a challenge. It’s not often our main role, but an addition to another one. What is the biggest challenge you have when it comes to writing?

Imposter Syndrome. I struggle with doubts on whether I am good enough to write about certain complex topics, but I have learned to separate feelings from the facts that I am good enough.

What is the next thing you hope to achieve in your career?

Being a contributor to Bitcoin Core. I hope to be able to make Bitcoin more scalable by bringing in new Bitcoin Improvement proposals.

Wow, that’s admirable. Now, something more casual: What is your guilty pleasure of choice?

Haha, I listen to heavy metal a lot, something people find Cringeworthy in my country.

Do you have a non-tech-related hobby? If yes, what is it?

Yes, I play the Guitar and enjoy Travelling.

What can the Hacker Noon community expect to read from you next?

I want to continue writing more about Bitcoin. I want to encourage more developers to contribute and build their stacks on Bitcoin.

Thanks for taking time to join our “Meet the writer” series. It was a pleasure. Do you have any closing words?

It was a pleasure! Looking forward to contributing more to Hackernoon.
