The game is scheduled for release on January 25

In a surprising move, independent studio Timelock Studio and Serious Sam 4 developer Croteam announced they have joined forces to bring fans of the franchise new content in the form of a standalone expansion.

Dubbed Serious Sam: Siberian Mayhem, the standalone expansion is scheduled for release on PC on January 25, so in just two weeks from now. In fact, the game is already available for pre-order via Steam for just $18 (includes 10% discount).

Serious Sam: Siberian Mayhem started as personal project of longtime Serious Sam community modding team Timelock Studio, and quickly evolved into a standalone expansion supervised by Croteam.

The next chapter in the adventures of Sam Stone take place, you guessed it, in Siberia. Players must make their way through the vast Russian landscapes on a quest to catch up with the game’s villain.

However, we all know that the story is the least interesting aspect in a Serious Sam game, so let’s talk a bit about the weapons. A deadly arsenal of new weapons has been added to series, including the legendary AK and the experimental “Perun” crossbow. Also, new gadgets and vehicles will be available for players who want to the complete “mayhem” experience.

According to developers, “a gang of new outcasts and unexpected characters” will help players on their journey to Tunguska. For those interested in the game’s lore, Siberian Mayhem features side-missions that uncover new chronicles about these wild places.

Last but not least, expect a new set of dangerous enemies and bosses, including some of the most advanced and intimidating creatures ever present in a Serious Sam game.

Croteam and Timelock Studio revealed the Serious Sam: Siberian Mayhem standalone expansion features five levels, but it’s unclear how long it will take to actually finish the game. Not to mention that if you want to complete some of the side-missions, it will take you even longer.
