Looking into the Emphatic Literary Career of Michael Owhoko

A common misconception is that writing is only a small part of what you do and that in order to be successful, you must have a wide range of abilities. Some people, on the other hand, have dedicated their entire lives to writing, establishing themselves as successful authors who defy expectations.

Writers’ positions in the workplace are often determined by the quality of their writing, which may appear simple at first glance. Michael Owhoko, a Nigerian journalist, author, and public relations practitioner, serves as a prime example of our statement.

As one of Nigeria’s most prolific public relations professionals, Nigerian journalist Michael Owhoko knows all of this. Ex-spokesman for Gaslink Nigeria Limited and a media genius. In 2002, he received a Certificate of Merit, one of many honors he has received.

In 1989, he began his journalism career and later moved to the Daily Times of Nigeria, where he worked as the Energy Editor of the Business Times. Many of his articles and editorials were used by the oil and gas industry as a source of information. He wrote exclusively about energy.

Owhoko’s writing has always been a major part of his life. He believes that writing is one of the most powerful tools we have to help us succeed and excel in our personal and professional lives.

Former Gaslink Nigeria Limited spokesperson and Addax Petroleum Nigeria Limited communications representative/advisor, he is also a well-known author with a slew of books to his name.

Upon completion of his secondary education, he went to the University of Ilorin, Nigeria, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Political Science. In 1999, he obtained an M.Sc in Political Science from the University of Lagos, Nigeria, where he also graduated in 2001 with a Post Graduate Diploma in Mass Communications after gaining experience and studying at various institutions. In 2020, he enrolled in the Selinus University of Science and Literature’s Ph.D. program in Political Science, where he graduated in 2021 with a Ph.D. in Political Science after successfully defending his thesis.

In 1989, he was hired as a Staff Reporter at “The Metropolitan,” a weekly newspaper in Lagos, Nigeria. Later, he joined the Nationwide Merchant Bank, serving in various departments before being named Head, Administration in 1997.

Before moving on to The Diet and the Daily Times of Nigeria as the Energy Editor of the Business Times, he worked as an Energy Editor at the Financial Telegraph. A series of articles and stories that served as research materials for the oil and gas industry was the focus of his writing during this time period.

Others in the industry began to pay attention to what he had to say. When Gaslink Nigeria Limited’s Managing Director approached Owhoko in 2001, he invited him to join the company as the company’s Manager of Public Relations. When the Ikeja 1B Gas Distribution Project was completed and commissioned in 2002, he was awarded a certificate of merit.

A member of the Nigerian Gas Association’s Council, an affiliate of the International Gas Union, Owhoko was appointed to the position of publicity secretary in 2000. During his time in office, he launched a publication, named “The Nigerian Gas” and served as the first editor.

In addition, he is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, Rotary Club of Ikoyi, District 9110 Nigeria, the Nigerian Union of Journalists, the Nigerian Gas Association, and so on.

For this reason, he is one of only a handful of professionals in the world who is constantly striving to improve his work, develop new skills and write content that can have a significant impact on the way our modern world works.
