Telegram Desktop Receives New Big Update in the Microsoft Store

Telegram has released a new version of its desktop client, this time in the Microsoft Store, therefore shipping a large batch of improvements for users running the app on Windows.

The new version of Telegram desktop comes with features that were originally announced for the mobile versions of the app.

For example, users can now clear messages in one-on-one chats from a specific day or choose a date range for the same task.

At the same time, Telegram now comes with settings specifically allowing content creators to restrict other users from saving media or forwarding messages posted in their groups.

“With this update, we're helping creators protect the content they publish on Telegram and ensure that it is available only for their intended audience. Group and Channel owners who want to keep their content members-only can restrict message forwarding from their chat, which also prevents screenshots and limits the ability to save media from posts,” Telegram explained in early December when it announced the new update.

Automatic calls for logging in

The new version of Telegram also includes options to allow channel owners to send a message as a channel in groups.

“Public Groups and Channel Comments allow for discussions of any topic in massive communities with thousands of members. These groups are used for everything from defending democracy to chatting with fans, which is why we've added the ability to appear as a channel when sending messages in these chats. Tap the profile picture next to the message bar and choose one of your channels – the messages you send after that will appear with the name and photo of the channel instead of your personal account,” the company explains.

And last but not least, Telegram has also been updated with login calls when setting up the app for the first time, so you can skip the standard method if you can’t receive messages.
