Enterprise Engineering is looking for a Systems Engineer Intern. Our customers are Facebook’s employees, and we support the systems they rely on to keep the business growing and information safe. We use a combination of open source and off-the-shelf technologies, plus many of the tools developed to run facebook.com. You will be responsible for building multi-platform solutions and solving infrastructure problems at scale.
Enterprise Systems Engineer, Intern Responsibilities
Build, scale and secure Facebook’s corporate infrastructure.
Combine open-source and commercial technologies to build services that will have an impact on the business.
Work in a heterogeneous environment containing diverse operating systems and applications, and make them work well together.
Apply modern engineering methodologies such as infrastructure as code, container orchestration, and software-defined storage to scale Facebook's rapidly growing Enterprise infrastructure.
Find ways to leverage the scale and complexity of the larger facebook.com infrastructure to solve problems for Enterprise customers.
Produce systems that are scalable, automated, and well-documented.
Minimum Qualifications
Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a degree (Associates, BS, MS) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
Intent to return to a full-time degree program after completion of internship.
Knowledge of system administration in a Linux type environment.
Knowledge of shell scripting.
Knowledge of coding in at least one of the following languages: PHP, Ruby, Python, or Go.
Knowledge of working with monitoring and configuration management tools such as Puppet and Chef.
Knowledge of in configuration and maintenance of applications such as Apache, Oracle, Squid, MySQL, NFS, DHCP, SSH, DNS, or SNMP.
Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
