Facebook is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer Intern, Optical Products to join our Supplier Quality Engineering team. Technology and supply chain challenges in the optics space are increasing the scope of work upon which our rapidly scaling infrastructure efficiently operates and how Facebook connects the world. In this role, the candidate will be working on integrated photonics technology, high-speed optical validation and will also work with manufacturing cross-functional teams to evaluate design, analyze data, and enable Facebook's products to scale.
Supplier Quality Engineer Intern, Optical Products Responsibilities
Conduct technology assessment on integrated photonic packaging from industry and academia to assist product realization process for on-board optics and co-packaged optics
Set up a baseline for in-situ monitoring process for photonic fabrication process, especially on the waveguide IL/PDL control, defect monitoring
Learn and use reliability prediction tools and techniques to evaluate product reliability performance on new products from wafer level to module level
Develop and maintain metric dashboards for performance monitoring of optical products
Minimum Qualifications
Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Optics, or related technical fields
Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment
Preferred Qualifications
Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Optics, or related technical fields
Understanding of Optical product architecture, design and test
Programming experience in C++ or Python
DOE capability on high-speed optical communication devices
Knowledge of Optical product reliability and validation procedures and Weibull modeling/predictive modeling for failure rates
Basic knowledge of packaging technologies including co-packaged optics/silicon photonics integration
Intent to return to degree-program after the completion of the internship/co-op
