OverviewApplication

Platform engineering at Metawork concerns itself with the theory and practice of delivering constant improvements to the language runtimes and backend services that power the Metawork product experience. Given the nature of our work is to question everything about software development, there are very few abstractions that platform engineers can rely upon at Metawork—aside from those we write ourselves. This mode of working can be jarring at first for even seasoned developers, so we tend to look for an innate sense of curiosity, humility, and drive to understand systems as a whole when evaluating candidates for this role.

Here are some samples of recent platform engineering work:

  • Integrating the core Metawork SDK into new language runtimes

  • Overhauling language parsers and compilers to support the kind of information we need for a magical product experience

  • Constructing a resource-efficient build matrix that represents the Cartesian product of the languages, their versions, and system architectures we support

  • Optimizing the capture of data values down to the smallest number of CPU instructions we can make work

  • Inventing a new codec for sending and processing runtime execution data on the wire

  • Writing a language-agnostic test harness for validating and verifying that runtime recording works end-to-end under many different conditions

Compensation

Salary range for the Platform Engineer role: $158,850 - $222,390 USD

Equity range for the Platform Engineer role: 0.17% - 0.60%
