微博周四晚间公布，通过香港联交所上市聆讯，筹资拟用于持续扩大用户群及提升用户参与度，以及有选择性地寻求战略联盟、投资和收购等。微博为新浪的控股子公司，新浪持有微博 44.4% 的股份，阿里巴巴全资子公司 Ali WB Investment 持股比例 29.6%。微博聆讯后资料集显示，该公司收入同比增长率在 2020 年第四季度恢复至 10%，并进一步增加至 2021 年第一季度的 42% 及第二季度的 48%，因新冠疫情在中国逐渐得到控制，广告需求相应恢复；其收入主要来自购买广告及营销服务的客户。
