Many Google Assistant devices offer a great feature—personal results. For a shared device, the feature will show or read results specifically tailored to you like results from your specific Gmail account.

You can make the process easier by turning on personal preferences using your Android or iOS device.

Here's how you can get personal results displayed on your phone or home devices using the Google Home app.

Considerations Before Turning On Personal Results

Personal results may be available to anyone using a compatible Google device, but only specific countries and languages will be supported.

If you are using a Pixel Stand, you may have to leave your phone unlocked to turn on personal results. Your results will depend on which app you are using.

Even if you do have personal results turned on, it still won't be able to affect specific Assistant features on apps like Spotify or Pandora.

How to Turn On Personal Results for Android

Using your Android phone, follow the steps below to turn on your personal results.

  1. Say "Hey Google, open Assistant settings."
  2. Select Personalization under All settings
  3. Turn Personal results on

Some Android devices will even allow you to display your personal results on your lock screen.

Manage Personal Results From Google Home App

The Google Home app is capable of controlling personal results from any Google device like speakers, smart displays, and smart clocks.

If you do want personal results on your home devices, you'll have to set them up for the entire home in your app first. Then you can work on individually displaying your results.

That means if you turn off your voice match in the future, it will turn off your Google personal results. You can always turn your personal results back on without the Voice Match.

  1. Open your Google Home app
  2. Tap the home icon
  3. Select Settings
  4. Choose Google Assistant > Personal results
  5. Select Turn on personal results in this home

You can also choose to automatically turn on personal results for any new devices that are set up in your home.

Turn On Personal Results from iOS

You can't use Google Assistant directly on your iOS device like you can with Android devices. but you can download the Google Home app from the App Store and control personal results from there.

  1. Open the Google Home app
  2. Tap the home icon
  3. Choose the device
  4. Select Device settings > Notifications and Digital Wellbeing > Digitial Wellbeing
  5. Toggle Allow personal results on

Turning On Personal Results

Your personal results from Google Assistant can display on any compatible device, but you'll need to turn them on from your Android or iOS device. Using the Google Home app will allow you to enable your personal results features.
