StartAllBack restores the Windows 10 Start menu

One of the biggest changes in Windows 11 is the introduction of a new Start menu inspired by the one in Windows 10X, though it goes without saying not everybody is a big fan of this new approach.

The Start menu is centered now, just like the taskbar icons, and Microsoft says this is an approach whose purpose is to make the OS overall more productive.

“We’ve simplified the design and user experience to empower your productivity and inspire your creativity. It’s modern, fresh, clean and beautiful. From the new Start button and taskbar to each sound, font and icon, everything was done intentionally to put you in control and bring a sense of calm and ease. We put Start at the center and made it easier to quickly find what you need. Start utilizes the power of the cloud and Microsoft 365 to show you your recent files no matter what platform or device you were viewing them on earlier, even if it was on an Android or iOS device,” Microsoft says.

Enter StartAllBack

While Windows 11 doesn’t come with a way to restore the traditional Start menu at OS level, third-party apps once again come to the rescue, and StartAllBack, previously known as StartIsBack, is one of the best.

StartAllBack comes with all kinds of customization options aimed not only at the Start menu but also at the taskbar.

For example, you can show labels on taskbar icons, adjust the icon size and margins, drag and drop content on the taskbar, and even separate corner icons just like they used to be in Windows 10.

The available Start menu styles even include the Windows 7 approach, and this is definitely good news for those who make the switch to a new PC running Windows 11.
