This latest WebFOCUS update prioritizes aligning WebFOCUS with TIBCO’s product strategy by introducing new features that enhance cloud, modern BI, and Directory Services Markup Language (DSML) functionalities.

1. Filter Chaining

Filter chaining, a feature of WebFOCUS’s BI functionality, enables you to apply one filter on a data set to be copied to other related sets so that subsequent tables and charts in the report display only the relevant information. For instance, suppose you have a sales report with sales volumes, profit margins, regional performance, and purchases per customer in different charts. With filter chaining, you can hide non-relevant months on the Sales Volumes chart, and the same filtering will apply to the rest of the charts.

Filter chaining eliminates the cumbersome process of filtering all related elements independently so you can efficiently deliver smooth presentations that keep your audience engaged.

1. Conditional Styling

Leverage conditional styling capabilities such as element color changes and add drill-down links based on the values in your report. With this feature, you can draw attention to important items, emphasize differences between values, and highlight the resources to which end users can navigate when going through your reports.

WebFOCUS Designer remains the ideal solution for creating interactive, responsive web pages with in-house content. It features an intuitive user interface with seamless navigation and content creation and provides the flexibility of building pages compatible with any device or browser. 

WebFOCUS Designer’s canvas offers a responsive grid for all your content and containers. In addition to resizing automatically to fit your device, the canvas now features pagination, which allows you to change the type of file generated when you run your content by changing the output format. Output formats include AHTML, HTML5, HTML, PDF, PPTX, and XLSX.  PDF, PPTX, and XLSX are paginated file types, and the new Paginated Canvas has been introduced to represent the scrolling navigation behavior of the output formats. 

1. Field List Parameters

With parameter filtering, everyone on your team can use WebFOCUS to view the data they need in a report without duplicating the entire file. For instance, if your report has Region as a parameter, end users can choose their regions and see only relevant information. The WebFOCUS Parameters tab offers provisions for creating and modifying parameter values and conditions. Now, you can create field list parameters so team members can specify which fields they want to display.

1. Filtering Large and Streaming Data

By default, TIBCO WebFOCUS Designer will pull a list of values from your data source, which allows end users to select valid values for their filter controls. However, when working with a large data source or streaming data, this can lead to challenges due to the large number of values or changing values in the data source. Designer will now allow you to provide dataless filters, which will conserve resources needed during data retrieval. Authors who are familiar enough with the data sources to add appropriate filters and values can increase performance and more effectively leverage large and streaming data sources.
