What does hump day mean?

In America, some people refer to Wednesday as hump day! The reason? Because Wednesday is in the middle of the work week, people often see it as a “hump” that they must get over in order to get closer to the end of week. Read below to see how it’s actually used in a sentence.

So, the word hump here is used to mean an obstacle, or something blocking your path towards the weekend, which is the goal.

Here’s an example of it’s usage:

”Hump Day” In a Sentence



Tom:  “Happy hump day, Bob!”

Bob:  “Oh, I forgot it’s Wednesday today!”
