大约一年前，在新冠 Delta 等变种尚未出现前，纽约 Rockefeller 大学的病毒学家 Theodora Hatziioannou 和 Paul Bieniasz 着手研究能躲避所有抗体的病毒刺突蛋白变种。刺突蛋白被 SARS-CoV-2 病毒用于感染细胞，也是所有阻断感染的中和抗体目标。上个月，研究人员在《自然》期刊上发表报告，他们研发出的一种刺突蛋白变种包含了 20 处改动，能完全抵抗绝大部分被试体内产生的中和抗体。但还有部分人的抗体不仅能抵抗这种变种，还能阻止其它类型的冠状病毒，他们的抗体极有可能能有效抵御未来所有的 SARS-CoV-2 变种。他们被认为具有超级免疫力，是疫情中发现的最大谜团之一。研究人员希望通过绘制超级免疫和普通免疫的差异，能找到一条更安全的途径去获得更高水平的免疫保护。
