Still looking for a PS5? Well, Sony might actually have a solution for a change! Here's how to get hold of one.

So, the holiday season is approaching, which always brings good cheer. Unless you were hunting down a PS5 during the 2020 holidays, in which case the season only brought prolonged misery and heartache as your search bore no fruit.

This holiday season Santa Sony wants to make sure you're frantically unwrapping a PS5 at some ungodly hour, and to assist in its aim, it is allowing prospective PS5 owners to register for a console!

Here's what you need to know (and don't get your hopes up too much, either).

Sony Launches PS5 Buyer Registration

Getting hold of a PS5 has been so difficult. Sony, for once, has recognized that its consumer base isn't happy about something and is actually making moves to resolve the problem. Perhaps not enough, but something, at least.

According to the PS5 registration page at PlayStation.com, eager gamers can register for the chance to receive an invitation to buy the console directly from Sony, with only "a limited number" available. So, if you register, it won't guarantee that you'll get an invitation to buy the console.

However, this does give some people a chance to own the console. Just prepare yourself for the same bitter disappointment you experienced in 2020 when you didn't get one then, either.

How Do You Register for a PS5 From Sony?

Registration is simple. Note, however, that this is currently only available for US customers at the time of writing.

In order to register for a Playstation 5, direct from Sony, you just need to head to the registration page linked above. You'll need to sign in at PlayStation.com, using your PlayStation Network credentials. Then you can register. If you're successful, Sony will email you a link to buy the console from them. Be aware, though, that you need to use the same email address as the one linked to your PSN account for this to work. It says so in the registration rubric, so Sony will honor that and only invite you if the two emails match up.
