PlayStation 5 提供 M.2 插槽以便於擴充儲存空間，這讓固態硬碟廠商多了項商機，相繼推出機構相容的產品。Samsung 已經推出一段時間的 980 Pro SSD，也順勢增加配備散熱片版本，預計在 10 月開始供貨。
配備散熱片的 980 Pro SSD，設計尺寸 24mm x 80mm x 8.6mm，符合 Sony 所開出尺寸要求。效益無非是避免溫度太高，觸及過熱保護點降速運作的機率，讓遊戲體驗能夠保持快速、順暢。當前已知將有 1TB 與 2TB 兩種容量選擇，參考價格分別為 249.99 美元、449.99 美元，可能不會提供 500GB 之類小容量選項。
