Your Puppetize Digital recap

Yet another Puppetize Digital is on the (online only) books. Our second annual virtual conference drew attendees from around the globe, bringing together the people at the center of automation.

If you weren’t able to attend this year’s event live, worry not! You can watch the entire conference on-demand here.

Hot tip: If you did not register for Puppetize Digital, you can register on the events platform now to watch all videos on-demand.

Read on for Puppetize highlights!

NEW Puppet Compliance Enforcement Modules

At Puppetize, we announced the new Compliance Enforcement Modules, or CEM — Puppet modules specifically designed to provide you with turnkey compliance remediation and enforcement of policy-as-code directly aligned to Center for Internet Security Benchmarks (CIS) for both Windows and Linux. This enables you to quickly identify the cause and source of compliance failures and determine the correct configuration changes within minutes.

For more on staying compliant, watch Claire McDyre’s Puppetize session on being audit ready or read more about continuous compliance.

NEW malware scanning on the Forge

The Forge team at Puppet was hard at work this summer building a malware scanner to help you stay proactive about your security posture. The new malware scanner targets supported modules and will cover all newly published modules by end of year.

This new feature does not replace your own security mitigations; there are many layers to a robust security profile, and this is only one of them. Learn more by watching Ben Ford’s talk on writing secure Puppet code.

NEW Service Graph Connector for Puppet

Available on the ServiceNow Store, the Service Graph Connector for Puppet ingests data from Puppet Enterprise directly into ServiceNow’s configuration management database (CMDB) to give you and your team rich, relevant data in order to make informed decisions across your on-prem and cloud infrastructure.

Watch Molly Erdle’s sessions at Puppetize on the Service Graph Connector as well as on the Puppet Spoke for ServiceNow, a new certified integration that gives I&O and DevOps teams self-service workflows to manage Puppet assets directly from ServiceNow’s Service Catalog.

Puppetize highlights, continued

In addition to featuring non-stop hits from our product teams, Puppetize offered sessions from industry experts, Puppet users and customers, the extended community and ecosystem, and even a pit stop at one of the first-ever PuppetConf locales: San Francisco's own Press Club. Puppet CEO Yvonne Wassenaar and CTO Abby Kearns joined the event from the Press Club (safely masked while off-camera) to share their thoughts on the road ahead for Puppet. Yvonne set the stage for customers like Las Cumbres Observatory to share how they’re using Puppet to discover new galaxies, while Abby went deep into all the ways in which infrastructure automation is the backbone for business imperatives

Meanwhile, Field CTO Nigel Kersten beamed in from London to discuss this year’s State of DevOps Report and how you can apply these findings to your own DevOps success. He was followed by CTO Deepak Giridharagopal who reminded us why we come to work every day to solve the hard problems for the humans behind the scenes.

Watch the full set of opening keynotes on-demand now.

Deepak was then joined by industry luminary Kelsey Hightower, formerly a Puppet employee, on the evolution of configuration management and automation, and what they envision for the future of cloud and ops. Watch Kelsey and Deepak go deep into Puppet’s history and far into the future!
